INRODUCTION , ZANG TOI
Zang toi was born in the Kuala Krai district in the state of Kelantan in Malaysia on 11 June 1961. He grew up in a grocery store in Kuala Krai (Kelantan , Malaysia) with six brothers and sisters .It was tough for him because he did not have much money .Later ,he left his native Malaysia at the age of 18, and via Toronto, landed in New York a year later. There he attended Parsons School of Design .
ZANG TOI'S ACHIEVEMENTS
He was named among the top 8 influential Chinese American by Vivid magazine.He took pride that he was the only Malaysian on the list as the US is a highly competitive country.In 1991 Toi won the Mouton-Cadet Young Designers Award, surprising many considering the competition he faced that day. His most recent award of distinction was presented by New York City Public Advocate Mark J. Green for Toi’s artistic contributions and achievements. In March 1997, Toi was awarded a knighthood by the Sultan ( King ) of Kelantan. Mr. Toi is also a recipient of The International Center in New York's Award of Excellence.
Gong Li , one of Zang Toi favourite Chinese Actress , was his first celebrity that wore one of his gowns .She loved it very much and wore it to the Oscars. He has also served several style arbiters including Sharon Stone, Patti LaBelle, Ivana Trump, Hazelle Goodman, Kelly Preston, Kirstie Alley, Jennifer Tilly, Meg Ryan, and Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas. Be it the House of Toi signature collection or the "Z" collection, his moderately priced bridge line, Toi’s creations are marketed as original and feminine pieces. Zang Toi is available in globally fine stores including the Couture Department at Nordstrom, fine specialty boutiques and Zang Toi Boutiques in Malaysia. Zang Toi launched his new line of fine makeup with Amazing Cosmetics at his Spring 2013 runway show.

Toi has employed the services of a famous Malaysian, Ling Tan, whose career he helped to kick-start.

When he was asked what is his secret to success . He would reply NEVER AFRAID TO DREAM !!! .Dreaming is good but at the same time you need to work HARD and SMART to turn that dream into gold .Luck plays an important factor but you need to be smart enough to run with it and make it happen ! "Do not look over your shoulder and see what people is doing !" These words literally inspire me , he said it during an interview with The New Straits Times , a Malaysian English Newspaper
